The Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) is one of the largest universities in Germany and offers a special study model that closely combines theory and practice. The more than 35,000 students benefit from the cooperation with established partner companies, enabling them to gain valuable practical experience during their studies.
Dual creative degree programme
The Bachelor’s degree programme in Media Design at DHBW Ravensburg offers a unique environment for practice-oriented teaching and experimentation. The focus is on practice-based arts and design studies across a wide range of media formats and with a focus on social relevance. Small course sizes promote a particularly familiar and appreciative environment in which students receive highly personalised support. Extensively equipped digital labs, analogue printing workshops and accessible studio spaces offer students plenty of room for their personal creative development.
Excellent teaching and research
DHBW Media Design is recognised for its innovative projects through numerous national and international awards. In the annual university rankings of the Art Directors Club for Germany (ADC), the degree programme is one of the three most important creative universities in the German-speaking world. The faculty is a pioneer in the combination of practice and research, for instance in the Centre for Immersive Media (CIM), where artistic explorations on new forms of digital narration are being developed.
Partnerships & international networking
Thanks to an extensive network, media design students benefit from collaborations with renowned international institutions and companies. As a partner in the global Cumulus network of leading design universities, the degree programme offers guest semesters at many partner universities, e.g. at the University of Reading in London, the Cape Peninsula University of Technology in Cape Town or the University of Lapland. Students gain valuable international experience and promote intercultural exchange.
