Anhalt University of Applied Sciences is a public university of applied sciences with three locations in Dessau-Roßlau, Bernburg (Saale) and Köthen (Anhalt). Founded in 1991, it offers a wide range of Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs in the fields of engineering, business, health, social sciences, and design. The university has modern facilities and close ties to the regional economy. Through its practice-oriented education and research, Anhalt University of Applied Sciences makes an important contribution to the development of the region and the training of skilled professionals.

Integrated Design in Dessau

Integrated Design means breaking down the traditional boundaries between the design disciplines of communication, product, and media design, ignoring outdated separations, and developing better solutions through new approaches. More than ever, today’s professional profiles demand interdisciplinary skills and complex thinking. The unique selling point of the design program in Dessau is the freedom to choose and combine design disciplines. After completing the foundational training, students create their own individual study profiles, which foster personal talents and allow them to discover their own strengths. They are free to focus on specific design disciplines or study interdisciplinarily. The program is part of the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences’ Graduate Center.

Degree Programs

Integrated Design (B.A.) Full-time 7 semesters

This comprehensive design program brings together the disciplines of Communication Design (2D), Product Design (3D), and Media Design (4D). Students can tailor their studies to their interests, developing expertise in a broad range of design skills – from graphic and typographic design to form-giving, photography, film, sound, and interactive design. Through hands-on training in various media, they learn to apply digital and technological design tools in a coordinated and integrated manner.

Integrated Design (B.A.)

Intermedial Design (M.A.) Full-time 3 semesters

The Master’s program in Intermedial Design provides a comprehensive and interdisciplinary curriculum that empowers students to explore the complexities, opportunities, and consequences of design in the context of contemporary and future challenges. At the intersection of design research and design science, the program emphasizes collaborative learning, team-based projects, and shared courses with international students and faculty, fostering a dynamic and global learning environment.

Intermedial Design (M.A.)

Integrated Design (M.A.) Full-time 4 Semesters

This progressive international program incorporates the essentials of design: communication design, product design, space, audiovisual and digital media. These are blended through rigorous fundamental training and are interdisciplinary. It uses the synergetic power of a working environment with students from various countries and cultural backgrounds.
