‘When you back home?’ (Taiwanese Mandarin: 你什麼時候回家, Nǐ Shén Me Shíhòu Huí Jiā) explores the influence of parents on their children, as well as the communication and reconciliation process between family members. The story revolves around a five-member family that, after the father’s death, must confront their once-feared mother anew. Through open conversations, they reflect on their past experiences with corporal punishment and attempt to understand their mother’s motivations in order to heal the family relationships broken by time and misunderstandings.
