Vom Ankerloch zum Ankerpunkt

Description
For my master’s thesis, I looked at a hidden world of products: plastic processing aids that help during concreting and then slumber invisibly inside the concrete. In the search for creative leeway, I ended up at the anchor hole – the trace that formwork systems leave behind in exposed concrete and which is usually just sealed. Instead of making the characteristic anchor grid disappear, I close the holes with a specially developed dowel that becomes a fastening on the room side: the anchor point. Anchoring instead of drilling. In this way, the wall becomes a pegboard, a playing field for space utilization, where furnishings can be attached reversibly and without extra holes. To this end, I have designed a family of inserts – hooks, rods, shelves, sockets, lights –, but the interface remains open-system. In this way, I bring utility to where otherwise there is only sealing, and make exposed concrete versatile.
