Commitment ensures in everyday life that plans succeed and people can rely on each other. On digital job platforms for students, however, this reliability is often not present: shifts are canceled at short notice, messages are ignored, or contract documents are not submitted. This has negative consequences for everyone involved.
This bachelor’s thesis examines why there is a lack of commitment in this context and how the behavior of users can be targeted and influenced. The focus is on five specific problem areas, which are analyzed using qualitative interviews with students.
The Fogg Behavior Model serves as the methodical basis, describing behavior as the interplay of motivation, ability, and trigger. The aim is to develop effective interventions based on the findings that motivate students to behave in a more reliable and committed manner.
