While 25% of the world’s population suffers from fear of flying, current solutions mostly focus on preparation and leave passengers alone on board during acute panic. Developed with psychotherapists, the AI app TO KU MO offers support and relaxation here in real time.
Via an intuitive interface modeled on video calls, TO KU MO acts as a personal counseling team. Users interact with three AI avatars: a flight attendant for logistical questions, an emotion coach for mental support and breathing exercises, and a captain who objectively explains flight mechanics and turbulence.
The app addresses the emotional distress during the flight, which ranges from cognitive fears (e.g. caused by unfamiliar noises) to physical discomfort. The interface adapts dynamically with calming ground and flight modes. Through empathetic conversations, TO KU MO offers passengers immediate, tailored relief in vulnerable moments.
