Description
How did similar myths arise worldwide long before global networking? A Thousand Times Told examines these cross-cultural universals using three archetypes: hero, trickster, and dragon. The work asks how we can creatively process, experience, and understand this collective heritage today.
The project combines theory and practice as a thesis, website, and card game. The design is based on a specially developed visual system: meaningful ornaments and icons were developed from the organic typography. Imagery from various sources is visually unified by a distorted dither effect, reflecting the vague, associative nature of myths. While the website (athousandtimestold.de) functions as a digital, explorative archive, the strategic card game translates the characteristics of power, trick, and spirit into a dynamic, tangible world that brings the archetypes and their attributes closer to the players.
