Between Echo and Resonance is an interactive multi-screen installation that typographically visualizes the transformation of language in digital echo chambers. These closed opinion spaces contribute significantly to the polarization of our society, but remain invisible in the process – this is precisely where the installation comes in. A self-developed typographic tool transforms letters into elliptical dot rasters, whose parameters such as color, shape, and readability are linked to an echo chamber score, calculated from over 37 million Reddit posts. As the score increases, the font increasingly dissolves from colorful and legible to abstract and black-and-white. Only the interaction of the visitors can interrupt this spiral and create short moments of resonance.
