Description

Problem Stuttgart is located on Europe’s second largest mineral water reserve — 500 liters per second bubble daily from the underground. Yet 75% of the young urban population knows nothing about it: the springs are hidden in backyards, the baths look like ordinary swimming pools. No visual language conveys the wealth beneath the city.

Idea A generative design system gives the resource its own visual language for the first time. It translates the chemical properties of each spring into waveforms, colors, and a parametric display font with 13 weights.

Solution Every parameter of the font follows the chemistry of the springs: sodium determines the frequency, chloride the amplitude, carbon dioxide the stroke weight, temperature the color palette. This creates a functional color font in which form and color are derived from the water. The typeface becomes the typographic signature of its spring. 13 springs, 13 font weights, 13 visual identities — one umbrella brand.
