Description

A product language exploration of a mediated reality interface. A concept for a device that digitally supports, modifies, and transmits the visual perception of the surgeon in the operating room.

The presented concept explores how the extension of vision in surgery can be translated into product language. The distinctive, eponymous shape of the headband is derived from human anatomy, and the controls are designed for optimal usability and ergonomics. The visor of Ypsilon is deliberately marked as opaque in terms of product language; the wearer does not simply look through the device, but rather into a digital space.

The haptic controls operated by the wearer are designed for blind, tactile use, while the functions operated by assistants are communicated through clear indicators.
