Description
Folded Sheets applies the principles of paper folding to sheet steel. Through precise cuts and folds, furniture and lighting objects are created from a single rectangular sheet. The folds ensure that the flat sheet retains its stiffness and load-bearing capacity, allowing the objects to carry weight without any additional reinforcements.
The surface is treated using a traditional blackening method in which linseed oil is baked in. This protects the steel from corrosion and gives it a warm, deep dark colour with subtle tonal nuances.
The project focuses on resource-efficient production, works without material waste, and uses simple tools and machines. It demonstrates how three-dimensional objects can be created from industrial flat material on a small scale.
