Description

The children’s book series “Wer zuerst lacht” (Whoever laughs first) combines short stories in a comic format with scientifically based explanations. The books are aimed at children from 6 to 12 years old, initially to read together, and later also alone.

In Part 1 “Lachen und Entwicklung” (Laughter and Development), a family and friends picnic together. The explanations are about how laughter changes over the course of life: in babies, children, during puberty, in adults and older people.

In Part 2 “Lachen und Gefuehle” (Laughter and Feelings), it is about when and why we laugh. A group of children goes on a hike with two adults and experiences beautiful, funny, sad and frightening things. The explanations address joy, contagious laughter, embarrassment, laughter as a coping mechanism (bad things), exhaustion, irony, and being laughed at.
