Wave Talk
Between Sound, Self, and Surrounding
Description
‘Wave Talk’ is an interactive installation consisting of three objects, exploring self-awareness and the relationship between the individual and the environment. It questions how identity is formed and altered by external influences.
Using cymatics — the visualisation of sound — vibrations in the material become tangible. Inspired by cymatics founder Hans Jenny and his quote ‘Everything owes its existence solely and completely to sound’, the work shows how sound, as a shaping force, structures matter.
Through vibration, internal and external resonances become visible, influencing self-perception. The installation invites wonder and reflection, conveying that the self is not a fixed state but a dynamic process — shaped by a silent, non-verbal communication with the environment.
