Description
The “typesynthesizer” is a stand-alone synthesizer with keyboard input.
No key has a fixed sound assignment; the sound arises from the differences between successive inputs and is continuously recalculated algorithmically.
The synthesizer makes signing processes audible and opens up a new perspective on the context of language: it is not what we say that matters, but how we say something. Depending on the context, the same input may sound different next time.
In addition, human-machine interaction is made tangible in a new way through sound: humans intentionally set signs, the machine processes them formally and returns a new sonic sign, which we again interpret freely and continue musically.
Context, sequence and timing when typing change the sound; the display shows the current values. Additional functions can be combined to create complex sound progressions and expand the spectrum.
