Description
As part of my bachelor’s thesis, I intensively examined the topic of utopia and dystopia, the culture of remembrance, and the preservation of hope and creativity in authoritarian social structures. The focus was on the question of what role design and designers could play in times of crisis and possible future scenarios. Based on current global challenges, I developed a speculative future scenario in which life on the Earth’s surface has become impossible and humanity lives in underground bunker cities. The Düsseldorf subway network, which was further developed into an urban system, serves as the spatial basis. Within it, I conceptualized spaces of remembrance intended to preserve collective memories and promote creativity, identity, and hope within a controlled system. In addition, I developed an immersive sound design that specifically creates a dystopian atmosphere through liminal spaces.
