Description

‘Arondeus Resistance’ is an artistic-research master’s project on the question: How can artistic research strengthen the resilience of queer people in the face of a right-wing shift, uncertainty, and discrimination? The starting point is Willem Arondeus, an openly homosexual artist and resistance fighter who opposed National Socialism. His biography serves as a reference for queer resistance across the past, present, and future.

The project combines research, photography, interviews, drag performance, and workshops. ‘Links vor Rechts’ (Left Before Right) portrays queer activists and examines resilience in everyday life. ‘Drag Resistance’ translates Arondeus into a drag performance as an embodied practice of resistance. ‘Queer Futures’ uses design futuring for collective future scenarios.

Resilience is understood as a social practice that arises through community, visibility, and solidarity. The goal is to test artistic formats as tools for resistance and shaping the future.
