Description

Topologies of the Gaze examines how AI-supported video surveillance reorganizes visibility in urban space. Using the example of Kottbusser Tor, cameras in public space and their fields of vision are mapped. The installation arises from research into video surveillance at so-called crime-ridden locations in Berlin. What consequences does this have for the people who use this place? How does surveillance change when images are not only recorded, but evaluated algorithmically?

The work sees itself as a spatial investigation and, in the sense of sousveillance, as a counter-recording of those perspectives that cameras capture from the location.
