Description

Textiles and patterns carry deeply rooted power or powerlessness, shaped by stereotypes and historical symbolism. The human becomes the canvas for the textile, creating an interactive relationship between textile and body. Pinstripes symbolize urban power and success, long closely linked to masculinity, while indigo print represents more rural, conservative values.
The experimental series analyses how small changes in various parameters can alter the perception and meaning of patterns and decouple stereotypes. What lies in between — does power hang by a single thread?
