Description
Repair initiatives convey knowledge, conserve resources, and create spaces for social encounters. Yet so far, they only reach a part of society. Gaps exist in terms of age, gender, social background, and history of migration.
Repairing Access examines how repair locations can become more accessible and diverse. For this purpose, repair initiatives and networks, visitors, as well as people with no prior contact with initiatives were surveyed.
On this basis, a workshop format and a reflection set for initiatives were developed. In three prototyping workshops, participants from urban and rural regions of Saxony jointly developed ideas for socially more inclusive repair locations. These were then tested in a utopian Repair Café with a partner initiative. The result is a collection of concrete approaches that supports initiatives in reaching new target groups and making repair accessible to more people as a sustainable practice.
