Description

Rebound is a critical reflection on our fast, technologised world and its impact on the most valuable of all human resources: lifetime. The term rebound effect describes the paradox that more efficient use of a resource often leads to increased consumption. Digital tools are supposed to make our lives easier; they promise comfort and time savings. Yet, in reality, we feel increasingly stressed and exhausted. Is this because efficiency in capitalism always serves as a reason to achieve more? In doing so, we have long reached human limits. Illnesses such as burnout or depression are on the rise. Instead of freedom and life, we are left with self-optimisation and constant availability.
In six works, I address various aspects of our capitalised existence, in which our time has long since become a commodity — useful, exploitable, rarely meant for ourselves.
