Description

The book shows a cross-section of surrealist-erotic literature and art. Objectifying strategies of surrealist imagery are categorized into six typologies: Lifeless, Deconstructed, From behind, Face-veiled, Headless, and Hybrid. For each image typology, there is a typographical system applied to randomly assigned surrealist texts.

Just as the identity of the woman is made unrecognizable in the images, I make the surrealist texts in the “Lustobjekt” illegible. At the same time, objectifying terms are highlighted, which is an analogy to the emphasized bodies of the depicted women. The book is a critical commentary on the rarely questioned depiction of women in surrealism.
