Description

Why is a crutch actually only used for a short time and not reused? The master’s project cuRe designs a circular crutch with an integrated business model. Through the circular business model, value is redefined and collective use is enabled through an alternative infrastructure. The redesign of the standard crutch as a rental object for multiple usage cycles combines a timeless, puristic design language with quick maintenance, repair, and unmixed dismantling by means of plug-in and screw connections. Few, high-quality material types with almost loss-free recyclability are used. At the same time, the crutch offers increased user comfort through the cushioning properties of its curved contour as well as a simple, continuous height adjustment for different body sizes. The holistic concept thus makes a concrete contribution to promoting circularity in the healthcare system.
