Description
Who do we attract when we dress ourselves? How do we decide what we wear – and what do we communicate with it? Based on these questions, the thesis is dedicated to seeing and being seen, decoding cultural codes and the field of tension between the speakable and the unspeakable. A material research between text, texture and textile results in a multimedia installation. Lose Enden collects fragments and the “unfinished” in various formats: moving image, a publication, a textile collection. In experimenting with alternative printing processes, typographic and textile processes flow into one another: machine-knitted graphics (knitprinting) and printing shoe soles (footprinting) are created through the methodology of hacking (open–dissect–reassemble). Existing structures are examined, deconstructed and reassembled. Borrowing from Roland Barthes’ The Pleasure of the Text, Lose Enden understands itself as an open collection that builds on the resonance of the viewers.
