The project examines toilets as part of public infrastructure and public services. Based on the question of why access to toilets is still unequally distributed, gender-specific differences in use as well as current concepts for a fairer sanitary provision are investigated. In doing so, the topics of potty parity and unisex toilets are particularly in focus. In the following, the view is directed towards the squat toilet as a toilet form that remains widespread in many parts of the world to this day. Based on cultural practices and health aspects, the extent to which they can be considered as an alternative to urinals is examined. On the basis of investigations, a design concept is created that shifts the focus from the toilet itself to the entire usage situation. The result is Humbi: an object that combines support aids with hygiene and organizational functions for the easier use of squat toilets.
