Description
A configurable, transradial prosthetic socket was developed for use in strength sports. The construction is based on 3D scans and the design is laid out in such a way that the generation via Grasshopper script and the additive manufacturing can run fully automated.
The socket offers three configuration options that can be freely selected or deselected by the user as required:1. Ventilation is provided by openings in the outer socket and perforations in the inner socket determined via topology optimization, which prevent heat accumulation. Integrated lightweight patterns serve to protect and ensure an optimal force-load distribution on the residual limb.
2. For volume compensation, incisions adapted to the anatomy of the forearm are integrated, which flexibly adapt to muscle movements. The contact pressure can additionally be manually dosed via a rotary closure.
3. The elbow enclosure ensures maximum hold for short residual limbs, while omitting it for long residual limbs preserves arm rotation.
