Arriving and letting go, community and retreat. The Kreißhaus+ is a place for birth, regeneration and exchange, where expectant parents are accompanied during pregnancy, birth and aftercare. Inspired by the large sea shell, the design translates its inviting shape, surface and color into the space.
The external staircase with seating function invites into the atrium community space and leads through protected areas for counseling and movement to intimate birth rooms with a connectable family room. The offer is complemented by a relaxation zone. It serves as preparation for birth and creates positive connections to the birth center.
Curved shapes, water, warm light and natural materials form recurring elements. Flexibly usable areas allow for individual appropriation. Thus, a built oasis is created as a supportive environment that provides security, promotes encounter and accompanies natural processes in their complexity.
