Description

Klolympia critically examines the design and use of public toilets in Berlin. Instead of presenting a design solution, this playful intervention makes social inequalities, barriers, and established usage rituals visible. Within the framework of a fictitious Olympiad, everyday trips to the toilet become performative disciplines that combine humor, movement, and criticism.

Phi transforms the sitting toilet into an acrobatic peak performance and points to forced misuse or alternative uses. Chi opens up new access to the urinal through a climbing structure and questions gender-specific inequalities. Psi stages the trip to the toilet as a public performance and encourages engagement with shame, privacy, and social norms.

This guide invites readers to reconsider and further develop existing ideas of public toilet use.
