Description

The connecting element is investigated as the central design principle of a flexible shelving system. The focus is on the question of how constructive connections can not only fulfill functional tasks but also shape the form and identity of a product. Based on craftsmanship connection principles, a shelving system was developed in which the connection deliberately remains visible and becomes the defining design element. The designed connector assumes both constructive and shaping functions and forms the basis for different configurations and variants. The shape of the shelf arises directly from the logic of the connection and makes the structure as well as the functionality of the system understandable. In this way, a technical necessity becomes a distinctive design element with its own formal expressiveness.
