This thesis examines how accessibility can be integrated into the aesthetic design of digital user interfaces. Existing guidelines such as the WCAG provide guidance, but are often difficult to translate into concrete design decisions. The aim of the master’s thesis is to develop a design framework that supports designers in systematically considering accessibility. The basis is formed by theoretical research as well as qualitative interviews with designers and people with visual impairments. The results show that accessibility is implemented particularly successfully when it is integrated early into the design process, communicated understandably, and applied in a context-related manner. The result of the work is a desktop application with a Figma plugin that supports designers in implementing accessible design through knowledge transfer, integrated tools, a chatbot, and quick checks.
