EVERYCHAIR is an inclusive chair concept for public adult education institutions such as universities or vocational schools. In contrast to conventional seating furniture, EVERYCHAIR does not strictly orient itself towards existing standard dimensions, but deliberately reinterprets them. The goal is to create ergonomic seating comfort for people of a wide variety of body sizes, while also including users who lie outside the usual 5th–95th percentiles.
In order to design the chair to be easy to use, cost-efficient, and sustainable, permanent connections between different materials, as well as complex mechanisms, were avoided. Adjustable seat and backrest heights allow for an individual adaptation to the user’s body dimensions. For people with shorter legs, there is also a fold-out footrest. The most important control elements are highlighted in orange so that they are recognizable at first glance.
