Description

This thesis examines the creative reuse of organic food waste from catering establishments. Frequently, these materials are lost early to potential cycles due to a lack of separation. The aim is to reintegrate organic residues into functioning material cycles. The focus is on experimental material research that specifically uses shrinkage and distortion during drying as a design tool. For this purpose, influences such as material composition, thickness, substrate, and temperature were investigated. Various construction principles emerged from the experiments: tube-like, space-creating, and shell-like forms. The work shows how material behavior and process can be used for circular and creative design.
