Description
Fungiture critically examines the processing properties of mycelium-based materials and focuses on the innovative technique of thermal pressing. The pressed materials are used to create three stools that demonstrate the advantages of sustainable materials and manufacturing processes.
Material compositions resulting from preliminary research processes are further processed in a thermal pressing procedure. During pressing, the material fuses under applied heat, transforming into homogeneous and stable panels.
The pressed panels achieve diversity through colouring and composition. Three different variants are created: a colourful mushroom panel, dyed with natural pigments; a layered panel, made from various substrates; and a veneer panel, in which mushrooms are used as veneer.
The Fungiture stools demonstrate how innovative processes can make sustainable materials both aesthetically and functionally usable.
