Description

Climate change and population growth demand sustainable solutions in all areas of life. Our diet causes approx. 1/3 of anthropogenic greenhouse gases, an area that we as consumers can actively help to shape. Algae offer great potential here. While they produce approx. 70% of our oxygen, they bind CO₂, filter water, do not require fertile arable land and possess almost all nutrients relevant to us humans.

However, they still represent an underestimated resource with a rather negative image in Europe.

The book An Ode to the Algae gives us the opportunity to get to know and subsequently appreciate algae in all their positive facets and innovative properties. In this way, the work is intended to make a contribution to the general social acceptance of algae, to arouse curiosity, reduce prejudices and particularly emphasize their value as food so that they become part of our dietary culture.
