Description
Kalturm is a portable, active cooling system for beverage crates, developed for small to medium-sized events. Whether city runs, sports tournaments, student parties, or open-air events – Kalturm comes into play everywhere where crates of beverages need to be cooled but no suitable cooling infrastructure exists. The system uses the standardized German beverage crate as a supporting structure. A compact cooling unit with a compressor, condenser, and evaporator sits on top of the stack of crates. A flexible, reflective insulating sleeve encloses the tower and adapts to the height while empty crates are removed from the top. Kalturm runs on a normal 220V connection and cools actively over several hours. Multiple units can be connected to scale up. A functional prototype was built and tested: beverages cool down from over 20°C to a stable 9-10°C. The design makes professional cooling accessible and affordable for small organizers for the first time.
