‘Homage to the Sponge Bath’ celebrates the sponge bath as a contemporary, resource-saving alternative to showering. It saves energy and water. While showering consumes an average of 176 liters of water and 6.1 kWh of energy, it only requires about 2 liters. The result is a washing station and a valet stand that enable an alternative ritual of body care, stimulate thought, and make the value of water directly tangible. The objects are mobile and enable a location-independent ritual. The washing station serves to clean the body and provides space for a washcloth, soap, and towel. A washboard makes it easier to wash out the washcloths, while the remaining water can be collected and reused. The valet stand complements the washing station. It holds towels and clothes ready and can simultaneously serve to lean against and facilitate washing.
