Kamillo
Description
The focus of Kamillo's development was on designing a shower chair and placing it in a new context so that its viewer no longer perceives it as a care aid. However, the design should not lose its functionality for caregiver and patient. What is the Topic?
Kamillo pursues the task of accompanying and supporting the person in need of care during the period of care. The concept is intented to promote the patient´s autonomy and independence. It helps the patient by providing safety by exercising while seated, and on the other hand it guarantees mobility in the bathroom. The concept not only takes into account the needs of patients, but is also based on the requirements of everyday nursing care. The focus of the design is on ensuring the discretion, intimacy and autonomy of people in need of care during their daily personal hygiene.
Why does it look like this?
Kamillo shows how the symbiosis of an innovative care remedy can work with the formal appearance of an office chair. This dynamic line draws over the underframe to the base frame, which then opens into the backrest and forms a formal continuation. The concious connotation of design forms and materials from the context of the office world pursues the goal of countering the stigmatization and discrimination of people in need of care. Kamillo has been formally designed to add value to its utility through the use of different color combinations, e.g. can act as an office chair.
What is special?
The task is to question existing solutions in the field of personal hygiene for people in need of care and to put them into a new design context in order to break up the stigma often experienced with care products. This results in the core of this design work. With the concept Kamillo, the stigmatization of patients should be lifted by the use of care aids. This goal can only be achieved if the design of nursing aids is thought new or more universal and an added value of usability is created, which appeals to as many people as possible. Kamillo follows the trail of abolition of discrimination and stigmatization in the area of daily physical activity. hygiene / body care of people in need of care. The concept not only takes into account the needs of patients, but is also based on the requirements of nursing care for nurses.
What is new?
