Der queere* Blick

Description

The queer* gaze plays with how we generate truths from visual stimuli. It critically engages with mainstream visibility, which often fails to reflect on how power structures and stereotypes may be reproduced through representation.

The project consists of a fabric and wood object embroidered with illustrations, along with an object catalogue. The hand-embroidered installation uses personal items from several queer* individuals to depict the reality of a person on the boundary between truth and fiction. The work is a call to look closely, read between the lines, and reflect on one’s own visual repertoire. Queerness always moves along a spectrum of (in)visibility.
