Description

In my bachelor’s thesis ‘KONSUM | GUT.’ I explore how consumption can be rethought and responsibly designed in the design context. The starting point is the question of how a consumer good — specifically, the bag — can become an impact product: functional, aesthetic, and with a positive, conscious effect.
Theoretically, I analyze consumer behavior, needs structures, and capitalist growth logics. Models such as Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and concepts like the doughnut economy provide the framework. The fashion industry serves as a reflection of current consumption patterns.
In terms of design, I translate these findings into a bag collection that combines ecological, functional, and emotional sustainability — through durable and natural materials, modularity, and the option for customization and repair. An accompanying workshop concept strengthens the relationship between consumer and product.
My goal is a design approach that combines the joy of consumption with responsibility.
