Description

The project explores new possibilities for sustainable and material-conscious manufacturing by combining bio-based materials and ceramic 3D printing. This creates an experimental manufacturing process that works specifically with the influence of gravity on the material. In the course of relocating the Material Design department to the premises of the Höchster Porzellanmanufaktur, the slip casting body used there was adapted and further developed for 3D printing. In the process, the material is not only processed, but also analyzed in its behavior. Gravity, moisture, and time influence the resulting shapes. Support structures made of biodegradable foam stabilize the porcelain body, are soluble in water, or burn without residue in the kiln.
