Description

Under the title “Collapsibles: Folding, Bending, Plugging, Folding, Rolling – adaptable furniture as a flexible and sustainable solution”, I investigated the potentials of foldable furniture. Their particular strength lies in their adaptability: they react flexibly to different requirements, enable users to actively co-shape their environment and promote playful interaction. By changing their state, they can adapt to various usage situations and remain relevant in the long term. The design creates an alternative to modular systems such as USM Haller or the FNP shelving system. The furniture is freestanding, offers standardized compartments for a wide variety of objects and can be assembled with just a single Allen key. It can be set up, expanded, transported and individually designed by one person. Thanks to durable materials, decades of use are possible. Thus, it is a constant companion for the future.
