Description

AERIS is a hybrid ISR UAV for monitoring extensive and linear infrastructures such as power lines, pipelines, railway tracks and industrial plants. The project investigates how an unmanned aerial system can meet functional requirements for monitoring, sensor integration, range and flight stability without appearing military or threatening in public spaces. The combination of vertical takeoff and efficient forward flight enables flexible use over long distances as well as in areas without a classic runway. The development process combines market and context research, the analysis of existing UAV systems, functional prototyping, flight tests, CAD development and iterative shape studies. The result is a fully developed drone concept with a physical prototype that design-wise combines technical performance, visible safety and social acceptance.
