Description

Since time immemorial, humans have tried to capture the world around them in pictures. This abundance of images wants to be sorted, and that is exactly what confronts people with questions of categorization. What ultimately belongs together? What are fruits? Who belongs to the heroes? Who belongs to the villains? Questions like these have not only accompanied language and imagery since time immemorial – they continue to dominate our political discussions and our purchasing decisions to this day.

This work represents an attempt to depict or put into signs the entire world and human history. Since this work was developed in the very short span of one semester, it is to be evaluated as a very limited attempt.

Nevertheless, this attempt stimulates questions and insights that should concern all image creators: Are all images based on existing images? Does that mean that we always solidify boundaries and clichés with them? Do we forget images/signs? And why do we constantly unlearn them?
