Description
Balance Shift is an adaptive balance training system for children from 5 to 14 years old. The starting point was the question of how balance can be designed as a comprehensible, modular system. Research, market analysis, and interviews showed: Many balance products follow different training logics. It often remains unclear what is being trained, how the level of difficulty increases, and when the next step makes sense.
The project therefore translates balance into a legible system of interchangeable modules. Different types of support, materials, and combinations create seven training levels – from sensory activation to complex tilting, turning, and diagonal movements. The modules grow with the child’s progress and make the training intensity visible.
In addition, an Arduino function was developed: The board measures movements and translates them into digital inputs for games. In this way, Balance Shift combines training, playful feedback, and an open product logic.
