The work a delicate matter deals with invisibilization in and around the period after birth, i.e., with a phase that is little discussed and tabooed in society, although it carries high political relevance. It understands itself as a counter-position to romanticizing narratives around birth and parenthood. In the format of a postpartum bed (140 by 200 cm), the typographic, large-format quilts show anonymized, slightly paraphrased quotes from affected individuals as well as a visualization of matching studies and surveys. Four quasi-labels describe an unfolding legend and contextually structure the experiences of those affected. A translation of the quilts and labels into zines further serves as a mobile, low-barrier form of knowledge and mediation. The project moves at the intersection of graphic design, textiles, and research with a focus on gender studies.
