The design of our environment determines how products are used and by whom. 1.7 FT addresses the question of how design can promote inclusion. In exchange with people with disabilities, seating for semi-public spaces is created. The two seating objects, Griffsitz and Trittsitz, address different needs – such as those of people with short stature, obesity, mobility impairments, or older individuals.
The seating can be used from both sides and promotes open interactions for a more diverse user group. The upholstered furniture is designed to be disassembled into mono-materials, inviting people to appropriate it as well as to reflect on norms and inclusion.
