Description

A speculative design research project that addresses the current debate on big data and artificial intelligence. The focus lies on the use and generation of data – its visibility, but above all, its invisibility.

Using the examples of the gender data gap, reproductive rights, and artificial intelligence, the complex concept and far-reaching significance of data are explored through design.

As a result of this investigation, the multi-layered research process is presented, along with derived physical props that visually support the data chapters as stage elements.

These props include, among others, thermo-underwear and thermo-rings, which were produced as alternative contraceptive methods following DIY instructions. In addition, further developed thermo-underwear is presented, created in an experimental, gender-sensitive design process incorporating artificial intelligence.
