Living and working spaces rarely serve only one function today. The living room becomes a home office, the one-room apartment combines cooking, sleeping, and working. This bachelor thesis examines how a modular room divider shelving system must be designed to flexibly structure open spaces without closing them off.
The core of the design is a modular system made of stainless steel tubular frames in three different heights. These are arranged in a zigzag pattern and can be combined, expanded, and supplemented in height as desired. Textile hangings complement the clear metal structure and bring lightness to the design; they can be easily replaced and fundamentally change the spatial effect of the system.
The result is a piece of furniture that, depending on the configuration, functions as storage space, a room divider, or a presentation surface, and can also be set up around corners. From living spaces to offices to retail and exhibition contexts, the system remains open to a wide variety of spatial requirements.
