Description

wool venture – Molding of Nonwovens explores an innovative shaping process for wool felt, in which garments are formed directly during the wet felting process. The individual shaped parts can then be joined using additional felting techniques — entirely without yarn or seams.
By eliminating traditional processing steps such as spinning, weaving, or sewing, transport routes, machine use, and CO₂ emissions are significantly reduced. A specially developed, adjustable last allows garments to be shaped precisely in different sizes.
In a case study, a motorcycle-inspired jacket was created from 100% wool felt, featuring moulded protectors on the shoulders and elbows. The combination of technical aesthetics, monomateriality, and seamless repairability makes the prototype an example of sustainable, forward-looking textile production.
