Description

This project deals with devalued wool from Thuringia and examines how to raise awareness of the value of local wool. Due to economic developments, this wool has lost much of its monetary value — but where does this devaluation come from? What does it mean for female shepherds, and what position can female designers take in this discourse?

Driven by the conviction that wool remains a valuable resource, I explored how knowledge about waste wool can be made accessible. The result is a communication object that appeals to all the senses and serves as both an entry point for low-threshold information dissemination and as an amplifier for this discourse. The aim is to highlight the extremely precarious reality of wool as a waste material through a romanticised portrayal of the material and to spark interest in the issue through this contrast. The ultimate goal is to help increase appreciation for local wool.
