Where I Never Lived is a photographic book project about home, belonging, and the in-between. The starting point is my connection to Slovakia, my father’s homeland and a formative place of my childhood. The photographs move through landscapes, encounters, and memories. In the process, what emerges is less a portrait of a country than an approach to the question of what connection feels like to a place where one has never really lived. A visual search for traces between familiarity and estrangement.
